Mayflower & Pilgrim Resources

Is Thanksgiving really next week?  That really snuck up on me!  The girls are I are spending some time learning about the Mayflower voyage, Pilgrims, and the first Thanksgiving.  I thought I would share some of the things we are using:

Sail on the Mayflower printable board game from Scholastic – My girls love playing this!  (The link seems to be not working for some reason – here is the link to download the pdf!)

Mayflower drawing and copywork – I meant to order the Draw Write Now book that has the Pilgrims and Native Americans in it, but I never got around to it.  So, the girls have to use my how-to-draw instructions – they might not be the best, but they’ll do!  I printed out a few facts (using the handwriting worksheet tool at Zaner-Bloser) and the girls can pick one or two to copy.

Other Resources:

The First Thanksgiving @ Scholastic:  This has three “modules” including a tour of the Mayflower, Pilgrim Daily Life, and The Thanksgiving Feast

Coloring Pages, recipes, and more for kids @ Plimoth Plantation

Thanksgiving Story Bracelet @ Ramblings of a Crazy Woman

I’d love to hear about your Thanksgiving activities, too!

I just came here from Let’s Explore and I love your new blog. You’ve got so many great ideas here! The Mayflower game looks great. We’ll have to check it out. I’m reading through Pilgrims (A Magic Tree House Research Guide) by Joan Pope Osborne with my 6yo and we’re enjoying it. We’re going to listen to the audiobook of Magic Tree House: Thanksgiving on Thursday next week. I’ve listed our other favorite Thanksgiving books here: http://inneedofchocolate.wordpress.com/2009/11/11/thanksgiving-books/
